Submental Contouring

Fullness under the chin is not always fat, and injectable fat reduction is not a jawline in a vial. Kybella® (deoxycholic acid) can reduce submental fat in selected patients, but it swells, it can require more than one visit, and it is the wrong answer for lax skin or a recessed chin that needs structure instead.

How we actually approach this.

This page is a consultation first. Dr. Donzo looks at skin quality, bone, posture, and whether the fullness is actually fat. If it is not, we talk about skin tightening, filler for the chin, weight-management context, or leaving it alone.

What we offer under Submental Contouring

A physician consultation determines whether injectable fat reduction can safely improve fullness beneath the chin and create a more defined jawline.

If you book this

A visit for submental contouring

  1. 01

    Name the tissue

Fat, skin, gland, and bone all make a profile. We do not inject a guess.

  2. 02

Swelling is expected if we treat

You should plan social downtime. Looking ‘done’ at day two is not the result; it is inflammation doing the job.

  3. 03

    Reassess before a second round

Photographs from the same angle beat memory. Additional sessions happen only if the first one earned them.

From Dr. Donzo

I will not sell a sharp jawline that your anatomy cannot support. If your chin needs projection, filler or time may be kinder than dissolving fat you still need for a balanced profile.

FAQ

Questions worth answering.

Is Kybella a substitute for liposuction?

It is a nonsurgical option for selected submental fat. It is not a neck lift and it is not body contouring for the abdomen. Candidacy is the whole visit.

How many Kybella sessions will I need?

Some patients need more than one. We do not pre-sell a package before we see how you swell and respond.

Will this tighten loose neck skin?

Not reliably. Laxity may need radiofrequency tightening or a surgical referral. Injecting fat when the skin is the problem is how profiles get worse.

Can I combine this with jawline filler?

Sometimes, in a sequence. Building a jawline on top of untreated submental fat — or dissolving fat under a chin that needed projection — is a planning error we try not to make.
